Boeing touts record 2015 airplane deliveries

Airplane manufacturer Boeing is touting a record delivery of 762 airplanes to companies in 2015. 

The Chicago-based company said this week that the 2015 delivery total is 39 planes more than any previous year in its history. 

“The Boeing team has worked hard to achieve strong performance,” said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Ray Conner said in a statement. 

{mosads}”Our team did a fantastic job achieving higher deliveries and getting our products to our customers as quickly and efficiently as possible,” he continued. “This will continue to be our focus.”

Boeing said 2015 deliveries included 495 of its 737 airplanes, 18 of its 747s, 16 of its 767s, 98 of its 777s and 135 of its 787 “Dreamliner” models. 

The company said it also took 768 new orders in 2015 that were valued at a total of $112.4 billion. The new commitments gave Boeing a total of 5,795 pending orders. 

“We had a solid year of orders in 2015, maintaining a strong, balanced backlog that will help ensure a steady stream of deliveries for years to come,” Conner said.

Boeing competes fiercely with French plane manufacturer Airbus, which said recently that it completed its 9,000 aircraft delivery in 2015.
