Dubai nabs world’s busiest international airport crown

Dubai International Airport has nabbed the title of world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic, Reuters reports.

The Dubai airport had 78 million passengers in 2015, compared to 70.5 million who passed through the facility last year, according to the report.

{mosads}The growth was enough to allow the Dubai Airport to top London’s Heathrow International, which had 75 million passengers, in international traffic. Last year was the second year in a row that Dubai Airport topped Heathrow, the report says.

The title of “world’s busiest airport” has become a coveted position that allows a city to crow about its attractiveness to visitors.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has been the titleholder for overall passenger traffic since the mid-1990s.
