U.S. ‘Dreamliner’ flight aborted after brake issue

{mosads}The 787 has had a series of problems since it was introduced last year, and the airplane was grounded for three months earlier this year by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after its batteries repeatedly malfunctioned.

The agency cleared the Dreamliner to return to service after Boeing made changes to its lithium-ion batteries to eliminate the possibility of electric fires in the event of a future error.  

Boeing said neither the battery problems nor Monday’s brake incident would impact the viability of the Dreamliner. The airplane was touted before its arrival as a revolutionary airplane,
in part because of its light weight and its use of lithium-ion batteries to reduce energy
consumption during flights. 

“The 787 is a great airplane, and we know it will continue to receive heightened attention when reliability events occur in service,” Boeing said on Monday afternoon. 

The company directed additional questions about the Houston incident to United.
