Two DC Metro employees injured on tracks
Two Washington Metro employees were injured while working on the train tracks Wednesday afternoon, according to the transit agency.
Initial reports said the injuries are not life-threatening.
{mosads}The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m., when two workers were conducting repairs on the Green Line between the Fort Totten and West Hyattsville stations.
Metro said one employee “sustained an electrical shock when a metal rod he was carrying came in contact with the electrified third rail.” The other worker was hurt while trying to help his co-worker.
Both employees have been transported to local hospitals, Metro added. The incident is now under investigation.
