DOT chief to meet with relatives of 2009 plane crash victims
{mosads}Prior to Foxx’s arrival at the helm of the Transportation Department earlier this month, the 3407 families had successfully pushed the DOT to boost its regulation of commercial airline pilots. Since the 2009 crash, the department increased the amount of hours pilots had to be given off duty between flights, and the agency recently increased the amount of experience required to fly a commercial airplane to 1,500 hours of flight.
Foxx has pledged repeatedly since taking office to make safety a top priority of his tenure at the DOT.
