Dem lawmaker wants landing speed warnings on airplanes after Asiana crash

{mosads}Investigators have attributed the accident in part to the plane flying too slowly on its attempted landing. The crash resulted in the deaths of three passengers and injuries to more than 180 others.

Rep. Speier’s amendment would appropriate $500,000 to the FAA to complete a study of the possibility of including voice systems that would warn pilots when they are flying too slowly during landing attempts to prevent a future  reoccurrence of the situation that led to the Asiana crash. 

The underlying T-HUD funding bill the amendment would be attached to includes $44 billion in funding for the transportation and housing departments.

The legislation has drawn a veto threat from President Obama because White House officials say it spends too little money on transportation and infrastructure.
