DOT chief warns drunken drivers
{mosads}Foxx said on Thursday that the effort to reduce drunken driving was part of his pledge to focus on safety during is tenure as Transportation secretary.
“Drunk driving remains a serious, deadly crime that all too often destroys the lives of innocent victims,” Foxx said in a statement. “We’re sending a message today that we will not tolerate drunk driving, so if you have had too much to drink, don’t get behind the wheel.”
The DOT said that the drunken driving crackdown would run until Sept. 2.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that 27 people per day are killed in the U.S. in drunken driving crashes.
