News bites: Black out

{mosads}A Thai airline blacked out its log on one of its airplanes after it skidded off the runway after landing at Bangkok International Airport.

Elsewhere in aviation, airlines generated $27.1 billion in fees in 2012, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Aviation industry officials are predicting that U.S. Airways and American Airlines will struggle to compete with larger airlines if the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) attempt to block their merger is successful.

Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines has been named the most fuel-efficient airline, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
