House to vote on restoring FAA funds

{mosads}The FAA had been expected to announce it would soon begin allowing airline passengers to keep their tablets on longer during flights, but the agency has suspended its aviation rulemaking operations during the shutdown.

The agency has absorbed the majority of the DOT’s 18,000 furloughs during the shutdown because it is the largest subsidiary of the transportation department.

Overall, the DOT has reduced its workforce from 55,468 to 36,987 in the absence of a deal to continuing funding the government past Oct. 1, which was the beginning of the federal 2014 fiscal year.
