Woman struck by DC Metro train
A woman was struck by a Washington Metro train on Friday afternoon, the transit agency said.
Authorities said the adult female has been transported to a local hospital and is “conscious and breathing.” Metro police worked with rescue teams from the D.C. Fire and EMS Department to remove her from the tracks.
The incident occurred about 4 p.m. at the Red Line’s Woodley Park station, just before the Friday rush hour. Metro officials said the woman “intentionally entered the track bed.”{mosads}
Service was temporarily suspended between Cleveland Park and Dupont Circle and shuttles were provided. Trains are now operating along the route but are single-tracking, with delays expected in both directions.
