Four dead in Atlanta-area plane crash

Four people are dead after a small plane crashed in the Atlanta area Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that the single-engine Cessna 210 crashed at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Chamblee County while it was departing and then caught fire.

The names of the victims weren’t released, and the cause of the crash has not been determined.

Fire Captain Capt. Jaeson Daniels told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution there were at least 15 firefighters involved in putting out the blaze.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and FAA will be investigating the crash, with the NTSB taking the lead in the case.

The airport is the state’s second busiest and is only 10 miles from downtown Atlanta.
