Movie theaters facing new laser projector regs
Movie theaters could be facing new regulations from the Food and Drug Administration.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released new guidelines Tuesday for laser illuminated projectors that are used at indoor and outdoor movie theaters to display films on the big screen.
These laser illuminated projectors are also commonly used during office and school presentations as an alternative to the more conventional lamp projectors.
The FDA will require these laser projectors to comply with international standards.
The FDA noted these lasers have “the potential to pose serious danger if used improperly.”
The public has 60 days to comment.
