New regs for Friday: Bees, defense contractors, explosives
Friday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new rules to protect bees from exposure to pesticides, requirements for defense contractors to provide proof of delivery, and requirements to separate ammonium nitrate from explosives.
Here’s what is happening:
Explosives: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is proposing new explosives regulations.
{mosads}The new requirements would separate all ammonium nitrate from explosives and blasting agents and update outdated guidance on the matter.
The public has 90 days to comment.
Payments: The Department of Defense (DOD) is proposing to require contractors to provide proof of delivery in some cases.
This will speed up speed up the payment process and help the DOD avoid late charges. The department pays about $800,000 each year in interest from late payments.
The public has 60 days to comment.
Bees: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to protect bees from exposure to pesticides.
The pesticide label restrictions would prohibit the use of pesticides that are toxic to bees during certain seasons.
The public has 30 days to comment.
