New regs for Monday: Cranes, transportation, livestock
Monday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new safety standards for cranes operating on the outer continental shelf in oil and gas development, transportation requirements, livestock regulations, and a voluntary labeling program.
Here’s what is happening:
Labeling: The U.S. Department of Agriculture is moving forward with new rules for a voluntary labeling program for biobased products.
{mosads}”These changes are being made to bring the voluntary labeling rule up to date with the BioPreferred program guidelines and the 2014 farm bill,” the agency wrote.
The changes go into effect in 30 days.
Cranes: The Department of the Interior is proposing new safety standards for cranes used in oil and gas operations on the outer continental shelf.
The proposed rules from the Interior Department’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) would address design and construction standards for these cranes.
The public has 30 days to comment.
Transportation: The Obama administration is looking into new transportation requirements.
The Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration are proposing to extend an information collection request for transportation requirements.
The public has 60 days to comment.
Livestock: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is looking into new livestock regulations.
The USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration may update the rules that govern marketing agencies selling livestock to its own employees.
The changes would affect auctioneers, weighmasters and salesmen.
“There may be some need to update this regulation to address current marketing practices,” the agency wrote.
The public has 60 days to comment.
