New regs for Monday: Open Internet, overtime, polar bears
Monday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new overtime regulations, Open Internet rules for small broadband providers and a recovery plan for endangered polar bears.
Here’s what is happening:
Overtime: The Department of Labor is formally proposing new overtime rules.
{mosads}The Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division will publish the proposal in Monday’s edition of the Federal Register.
The overtime rules guarantee pay of time and a half to employees who make less than $50,000 a year when they work more than 40 hours in a week.
The public will have 60 days to comment on the proposed rule.
Open Internet: The Federal Communications Commission is considering whether to continue exempting small broadband Internet providers from proposed transparency and disclosure rules.
Small broadband providers are currently exempted from the Open Internet rules.
The public has 30 days to comment.
Polar bears: The Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing a conservation plan to aid in the recovery of polar bears.
The polar bear is already listed as an endangered species.
The draft polar bear recovery plan issued Thursday lists measurable recovery criteria that could be used as part of the conservation plan.
The public has 45 days to comment.
