New regs for Tuesday: Child labor, endangered, drugs
Tuesday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new rules for over-the-counter drugs, protections for endangered species, and an investigation of child labor practices.
Here’s what is happening:
Child labor: The Department of Labor is investigating child labor practices in foreign countries.
The Labor Department’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs released a report last month identifying the worst forms of child labor around the world, and what could be done through legislation and enforcement to eliminate the practice.
The information will be used in a report to Congress.
The public has until Jan. 4, 2016 to comment.
Endangered: The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is proposing a recovery plan for the endangered Gila chub.
The Gila chub, a small species of fish found in Arizona and New Mexico, was listed as endangered in 2005.
To ensure protection of the Gila chub, the FWS is issuing a draft recovery plan.
The public has 60 days to comment.
Medicine: The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is excluding an over-the-counter nasal decongestant from drug regulations.
The DEA is updating the list of excluded non-narcotic products to include Vicks VapoInhaler, which contains levmetamfetamine.
The exemptions go into effect immediately.
