New regs for Monday: Beef, drones, explosives
Monday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new rules for drones, retail stores that grind raw beef, and the transportation of explosive materials.
Here’s what is happening:
Drones: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will keep a close eye on the sky.
The FAA has been authorized to collect information on the implementation of its new registration requirements for small unmanned aircraft, better known as drones.
{mosads}The registration requirements were announced earlier this week.
The information collection request goes into effect on Dec. 21.
Explosives: The Department of Transportation (DOT) is moving forward with new hazardous materials regulations.
The Transportation Department’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration announced Friday new standards for transporting explosives.
The standards would apply to cargo tank motor vehicles transporting explosives, the agency said.
The rule goes into effect in 30 days.
Beef: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is moving forward with new recordkeeping requirements.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Friday that retail stores that grind raw beef for sale will be required to keep certain records.
The rules go into effect in 180 days.
