New regs for Thursday: Pittsburgh Steelers, public transportation, livestock
Thursday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new public transportation safety rules, livestock reporting requirements, and safety procedures for fireworks.
Here’s what is happening:
Livestock: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is moving forward with new livestock rules.
{mosads}The USDA’s Agriculture Marketing Service announced Wednesday new swine and lamb reporting requirements.
The changes go into effect in 60 days.
Fireworks: The Coast Guard will establish a safety zone in the rivers that surround Heinz Field on Friday when the Pittsburgh Steelers host a firework show after the team’s game with the Detroit Lions.
The temporary safety zone will prohibit boats and swimmers from entering the waters near the stadium while the fireworks show is happening.
“The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards created from a barge-based fireworks display,” the Coast Guard wrote.
The safety zone will be in effect on Aug. 12.
Public transportation: The Department of Transportation (DOT) is moving forward with new safety rules for public transportation systems.
The DOT announced Wednesday new safety rules that will allow the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to “monitor, oversee and enforce transit safety.”
The rules go into effect in 30 days.
