Thursday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new rules for international adoption agencies, efficiency standards for lamps, and fall protections at shipyards.
Here’s what is happening:
Efficiency: The Department of Energy is correcting a mistake in new energy conservation standards for lamps.
The Energy Department’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy issued new test procedures fro integrated light-emitting diode (LED) lamps in July, but is now going back to fix a minor error in the rule.
The correction goes into effect immediately.
Ships: The Department of Labor is considering new safety standards to prevent shipyard employees from falling.
The Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on Wednesday issued a request for information as it contemplates new fall protections for shipyard workers.
This would be the first update to the shipyard fall standards since they were introduced in 1971, according to the agency.
