The firearm industry’s trade association has spent $1.6 million this year to defeat Hillary Clinton, according to a new report.
{mosads}Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) issued a report Tuesday that says Clinton’s gun control platform has been a source of concern for the industry.
Gun manufacturers have contributed $1.35 million to the the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) campaign to elect gun-friendly candidates in the White House and Congress.
That includes $500,000 from Smith & Wesson, $250,000 from Hornady Manufacturing, and $150,000 from O.F. Mossberg & Sons. Sig Sauer; Beretta Holding Group; Strum, Ruger & Co.; and SilencerCo have each contributed $100,000.
The NSSF is using Clinton’s support for gun control measures to rally voters.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, we have a presidential candidate who is openly running against the lawful commerce in firearms, which is a prerequisite to our ability to exercise our Second Amendment rights,” said Hornady President Stephen Hornady.
