Study: Trump freezes $181B of Obama-era regs
President Trump’s regulatory moratorium has frozen $181 billion worth of rules, according to a new study.
On the night of Trump’s inauguration, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus told federal agencies to stop issuing new rules, recall those rules that were in the process of being published and delay others that had already been published.
The pro-business American Action Forum said Tuesday the moratorium captured more than 200 proposed and final rules, including 22 regulations that cost at least $100 million each year for businesses to comply with.

“It’s unlikely the regulatory freeze lasts for longer than a few months, but it’s a certainty that theadministration will scrutinize all pending major rules and determine those that adequately protect public health and safety and those that could harm economic growth,” said Sam Batkins, the AAF’s director of regulatory policy.
