Feds take down deceptive bed bug treatment firm

{mosads}“Unproven products can do more than take a bite out of your wallet,” said FTC Consumer Education Specialist Aditi Jhaveri in an agency blog post. “Bed bugs and head lice are good hitchhikers, and not eliminating them properly will prolong the infestation and could let the pests spread to other people.”

In the blog post, Jhaveri gave tips about combating bed bugs and head lice, which feast on human blood and leave their hosts itchy and irritated.

Among the recommendations: check out treatment options approved by the Food and Drug Administration and find products that have the Environmental Protection Agency’s stamp of approval.

Under the settlement, Chemical Free Solutions will be prevented from advertising false claims about products’ effectiveness and endorsements.
