Dems delay committee vote on SBA nominee

Senate Democrats blocked another committee vote for one of President Trump’s nominees Monday, this time for Small Business Administration nominee Linda McMahon.

Democrats objected to a unanimous consent request that would have allowed the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee to meet Monday night to vote on whether to recommend she be confirmed by the full Senate, a committee aid told The Hill.

“As a result of this irregular objection, the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship was not be able to convene as scheduled this evening to vote on Mrs. McMahon’s nomination,” the aide said.

{mosads}“This unnecessary delay means the committee’s scheduled vote on the nominee for Small Business Administration will be postponed until further notice.”

The committee said it has the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO’s financial disclosures and ethics agreement, but that paperwork was still missing from the Office of Government Ethics’s website on Monday night.

Senate Democrats Monday also blocked a committee vote on Trump’s Treasury pick Steven Mnuchin. The vote has now been pushed to Tuesday morning.

Democrats asked for the delay to attend a candlelight vigil protesting Trump’s executive order temporarily banning the travel of citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries into the United States.

This story was updated at 9:16 a.m. to reflect the committee has McMahon’s paperwork.
