Cohen brushes off latest Trump attacks: ‘The bill is coming and he doesn’t have the money’
Michael Cohen brushed off recent attacks from his former boss Friday.
“He’s a felon, convicted felon and not a good person,” former President Trump said of Cohen after closing arguments in his civil fraud trial in New York.
Cohen asked if there was a “reason” to “respond” to Trump in an interview on CNN.
“He makes things up on a regular basis, and no matter how many times that Alina Habba or Chris Kise or Donald Trump attempt to denigrate me and to impugn my credibility, the one thing that we all know, the one thing that Donald knows — which is why he looks so terrible, it’s why he looks so nervous and preoccupied — is that the bill is coming, and he doesn’t have the money to pay it,” Cohen said, naming two of Trump’s lawyers.
Closing arguments in Trump’s civil fraud case in the Empire State ended Thursday. Judge Arthur Engoron has indicated he hopes to decide the case by the end of the month.
The former president gave unexpected remarks in the courtroom Thursday, going after New York Attorney General Letitia James (D).
He followed that with a press conference at one of his New York properties, where he spoke to reporters for about 10 minutes, railing against the various investigations into his conduct and describing them as politically motivated.
Trump again attacked James, as well as President Biden, and suggested that the fraud trial, a civil case brought by the writer E. Jean Carroll and federal criminal cases against him were all part of an effort to hurt him politically.
“It’s a witch hunt in the truest sense of the word. It’s election interference,” Trump said.
“The people of the United States get it. They get it better than anybody else,” he added.
