Trump company lawyer warned Michael Cohen not to write ‘tell-all’ book: report

Lawyers representing the Trump Organization have reportedly sent a letter to Michael Cohen asking him to stop writing a tell-all book about his time working as President Trump’s personal attorney.

ABC News reports that Charles Harder, a Trump Organization attorney, sent a letter to Cohen on Thursday that notes he signed a nondisclosure agreement that bars him from making public specific information on Trump, his family and the company. 

It was reported last month that Cohen was working on a tell-all book to be released before the November presidential election. Comedian Tom Arnold, who has been communicating with Cohen, told reporters that the book “is going to spill the beans” and that Cohen is “pissed.”

One source told The Daily Beast: “Michael’s stories about Trump are incredible. He has saved a lot of them for when the time is right and the time is now right. Michael spent a long time with Trump — he is going to go into everything and he’s not going to hold anything back. He has paid his dues and he’s pissed he had to go to jail for this.”

Trump attorneys have attempted to stop other books about the president from being published, including Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury” and former national security adviser John Bolton’s book, segments of which were released amid Trump’s impeachment.

Cohen is currently serving three years in a New York federal prison after he pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about his efforts to help build a Trump Tower in Moscow in 2016 and to breaking campaign finance laws by facilitating payments to two women who accused Trump of having extramarital affairs with them.

Cohen said in federal court he made the payments “at the direction” of then-candidate Trump in order to silence former Playboy model Karen McDougal and adult-film actress Stormy Daniels.

He also confessed to a slew of financial crimes that were unrelated to his work for Trump.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons had notified Cohen last month that he would be released early from prison due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, but according to ABC News, Cohen and other prisoners at his facility lost such privileges and will remain at the federal prison camp in Otisville, N.Y.

The prisoners would have been able to serve out the remainder of their sentences from home due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which hit other prisoners in their facility.

Cohen is scheduled for release in November 2021.
