Healthcare bracketology: US Chamber unveils ‘Regulatory Madness’
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has launched “Health Care Regulatory Madness,” an NCAAA-styled online vote meant to shed light on the impact the healthcare reform law — and accompanying scores of new federal regulations — is having on businesses.
“So far, there are 20,000 pages of health care law regulations — enough to publish War and Peace 14 times or cover the length of 61 football fields,” the Chamber said in a statement announcing the game. “And many more regulations are in the pipeline.”
{mosads}The Chamber settled on an “elite eight” most burdensome rules being promulgated as part of the ACA, and will pit them against themselves in an online vote. The law’s controversial employer mandate earned the top seed, making it the Louisville Cardinals of the health regulations tournament.
The possible Cinderella: an eight-seeded rule involving deduction limits on Health Savings Accounts.
Those wishing to participate have until 11:59 p.m. on March 31 to get their votes in. Results will be announced the following day.
