Whole wheat Eggo waffles recalled in 25 states

L’eggo your whole wheat Eggos.

The Kellogg Company on Tuesday issued a voluntary recall of all it’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles after routine tests found the product may have been contaminated with Listeria.

{mosads}The company known for the slogan “L’eggo my Eggo” is recalling 10,000 cases of the product that was distributed in 25 states. Affected products include 10-count boxes of waffles with the package UPC code 38000 40370 that expire on Nov. 22, 2017.

In a release, Kellogg said it has not received reports of any illnesses to date but is taking this action “as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods,”

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, the company said Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Kellogg is asking that people who purchased affected product discard it and contact the company for a full refund.
