Former Reps. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) and Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) will work at Squire Patton Boggs, the law and lobbying firm announced Tuesday.

K Street watchers have waited to see where the two prominent former members of Congress would land.

Crowley, the chair of the House Democratic Caucus for two years, was defeated by progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) in a Democratic primary last year. He had served in Congress since 1999.{mosads}

Shuster, who served as chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for six years, retired from Congress in January. He had served in the House since 2001.

The lawmakers join a long list of former members at Squire Patton Boggs, including former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) and former Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.).

“Joe Crowley and Bill Shuster have been leaders in their respective parties and are two of the most effective legislators of their generation,” Breaux and Lott, co-chairmen of Squire Patton Boggs’ public policy practice, said in a statement Tuesday.

The move is effective immediately.
