The week ahead in regs

There’ll be no Federal Register on Monday, and agencies will be dark in observance of Veterans Day. But rulemaking will crank back up Tuesday, and so will congressional committees’ consideration of a host of regulatory issues.

The Senate Banking Committee will hear Tuesday from Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray, who is slated to deliver the agency’s semi-annual report to Congress.

Earlier Tuesday, the CFPB’s chief architect, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will take stock of progress toward implementing the Dodd-Frank Act during an event hosted by the Roosevelt Institute and Americans for Financial Reform.

On Thursday, the Senate banking panel will consider the nomination of Janet Yellen to lead the Federal Reserve.

Also Thursday:

The House Homeland Security Committee will convene a hearing to consider Transportation Security Administration policies in the wake of Los Angeles International Airport shooting.

The House Energy and Commerce’s energy and power subcommittee will hold a hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency’s draft emissions regulations for new power plants.

The House Judiciary Committee will convene a hearing on hearing entitled, “Over-Criminalization Task Force: Regulatory Crime: Solutions.”

Meanwhile in Brussels, negotiators from the United States and Europe will kickoff a second round of talks in support of the Trans-Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA). The negotiations have broad implications on a host of regulations, from food safety to finance.
