New regs for Friday: Electric motor efficiency tests
Friday’s edition of the Federal Register will be relatively light on new regulations.
Here are the new rules for energy efficient motors, private sector pension plans and Defense Department schooling:
Energy:
The Energy Department is amending the procedures for testing the energy efficiency of electric motors.
The changes will allow some unregulated motors to be tested and “clarify the scope” of which motors fall under the department’s regulations.
Education:
The Pentagon is proposing to reissue its rules for special education programs for people with disabilities and their families.
The new rules would revise current regulations to incorporate amendments made to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act made in 2004.
“The revisions will ensure that eligible children with disabilities are afforded the services and safeguards as required by applicable statutory provisions” under the law, it said.
Pensions:
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, which protects private sector pensions, is prescribing interest assumptions for January 2014.
