New regs for Friday: Broadband reporting requirement

Food safety:

The Food and Drug Administration is extending the comment period for two new food-safety rules. 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is also extending the deadline for comment on a rule about beef that has been mechanically tenderized. 

Imports and exports:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is proposing to allow shipments of fresh papayas from Peru into the continental United States, under specific conditions. 

The Commerce Department is also setting new rules for reporting when export rules have been violated. Under the new rule, the Office of Export Enforcement will need to be sent a full narrative account of any voluntary disclosures within 180 days of the initial notification. 

Chemicals:

The Environmental Protection Agency is exempting the chemical propylene glycol from the requirement of a maximum tolerance when it is used as part of a antibacterial solution. 

Radio and communications:

The FCC is clarifying its rules for some radio equipment, in response to a request from Motorola. 

Additionally, the White House’s budget office has approved the agency’s plan to collect information. 

The FCC is also extending the comment period for a rule on local exchange carrier rates. 

Farm credit:

The Farm Credit Administration is seeking to set up a framework for reporting its credit system accounts and examination activities.

The new rules would establish a set of data to be collected from all institutions in the system and designate an entity to manage all that information.
