New regs for Friday: Fewer and fewer rules

{mosads}Exports:

The Department of Commerce is finalizing changes to its export control rules.

The amendments are designed to make the regulations clearer by, for instance, better describing the list of items controlled by the department.

Fishing:

National commercial fishing regulators are halting fishing for red snapper in the South Atlantic for the rest of the year to prevent overfishing.

The National Marine Fisheries Service is also closing recreational gray triggerfish fishing in the Gulf of Mexico from Oct. 15 to the new year. “This closure is necessary to reduce overfishing of the Gulf gray triggerfish resource,” the agency said.
