Watch live: White House holds press briefing

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Tuesday afternoon is holding a daily press briefing, joined by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

President Biden visited Florida over the weekend to survey the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia, emphasizing the increased threat severe weather as an effect of the climate crisis.

While in Florida, the president also stated that the shooting deaths near the historically Black Edward Waters University in Jacksonville were an act of terrorism.

Sullivan met with Ukrainian anti-corruption officials last week to hear reports on their work to bolster the rule of law amid the country’s struggle against Russian attacks and occupation.

Meanwhile, even as the White House works to reestablish more cooperative relations with China, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said in an interview that top American computer chips will be off-limits to buyers in China to prevent their use by the the country’s military.


The briefing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
