Watch live: Menendez to hold press conference after indictment

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) is slated to hold a press conference Monday morning following his indictment on federal bribery charges late last week.

Menendez, who along with his wife is accused of accepting more than $600,000 in bribes from several New Jersey businessmen in exchange for his influence, is slated to speak Monday at Hudson County Community College in Union City, N.J.

The veteran lawmaker has denied the charges, calling them “baseless” and denouncing them as a “smear campaign.” Menendez has temporarily stepped down as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee but faces calls from a number of fellow Democrats to also resign.

The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EDT.
