President Biden is traveling to Belvidere, Ill., Thursday to meet with United Auto Workers (UAW) President Shawn Fain, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and union workers.
Biden will deliver remarks and highlight recent agreements between the union and three major automakers that ended a weeks-long strike.
The president’s visit is intended to show “his commitment to delivering for working families and creating good-paying union jobs, as well as the UAW’s historic agreement that includes bringing thousands of UAW jobs back to Belvidere and reopening a plant,” per the White House.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m. EST.
