Former President Trump is holding a rally in South Carolina on Wednesday evening, 10 days out from the state’s GOP primary.
South Carolina’s presidential races are often closely watched as the first primaries in the South. But for Nikki Haley, the Palmetto State’s former governor and the last Republican challenger to Trump standing, a loss there would reinforce an impression many observers have had for weeks — that Trump’s nomination looks all but assured.
As of Feb. 14, Haley trails in polls for her home state 64.5 percent support to 29.7 percent, according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ — and polling shows similar results elsewhere.
The former president is expected to address the crowd in North Charleston beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
