U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is appearing Wednesday before the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee.
Vilsack will likely offer testimony that continues the defense of Biden administration priorities in the food production sector that he made during a House hearing a few weeks ago. Republican members made the case that climate and food aid programs should be cut to allow for more direct support to farmers.
The current Farm Bill was passed in 2018 and is overdue for renewal. Current funds are expected to last through the summer.
The hearing is slated to start at 2:30 p.m. EST
