White House holds briefing after Biden meeting with Brown v. Board plaintiffs: Watch live

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre speaks during a press briefing at the White House April 4, 2024, in Washington.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Stephen Benjamin, the director of the Office of Public Engagement, will deliver a press briefing Thursday.

The event comes after President Biden commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, which found that segregation in schools on the basis of race was unconstitutional. The 1954 decision paved the way for integration and marking a significant milestone in the civil rights movement.

Biden met with the plaintiffs and their families at the White House earlier Thursday. Throughout the week, he is expected to continue highlighting his administration’s efforts to improve racial justice and equity, as well as policies that have helped the Black community.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
