Watch: Biden gives remarks on curbing gun violence after Hunter’s guilty verdict

President Biden is addressing a conference Tuesday organized by the advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety

The White House has in recent days highlighted its efforts to rein in mass shootings and other gun violence.

But that message now comes alongside the conviction of the president’s son Hunter Biden on three counts related to the illegal purchase of a gun in 2018. The younger Biden lied about his own drug addiction on the federal form related to that sale.

One of the measures that the Biden administration hopes to enact is the expansion of background checks.

The president is scheduled to speak at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
