Watch: Johnson leads panel discussion on Title IX, women’s sports

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) led a panel discussion Wednesday afternoon regarding Title IX, which prohibits discrimination based on sex by educational institutions that receive federal funding.

Title IX has been credited with opening opportunities for women to participate in athletic programs that were once heavily biased in favor of men. Some conservatives argue that allowing transgender women to compete in women’s sports in effect reintroduces discrimination against cisgender women in competition.
