The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday will hear oral arguments in former President Trump’s appeal of a jury’s verdict finding that he sexually abused advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.
The jury ordered Trump to pay Carroll $5 million for sexually abusing her at a New York City department store in the mid-1990s and defaming her by denying her story when she came forward publicly in 2019.
Carroll later took Trump to trial a second time and won an additional $83.3 million, though that verdict is not at issue before the appeals court on Friday.
