Watch live: FCC commissioner testifies before House on Biden policies

Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr and other officials are slated to testify about Biden administration policies Thursday morning before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

The hearing comes as scrutiny swirls around telecom companies that have transmitted calls using artificial intelligence (AI) to influence the 2024 presidential election. Last month a telecommunications firm was fined $1 million for a robocall that used a voice mimicking President Biden’s that encouraged voters to skip the polls in New Hampshire earlier in the primary season.

FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel proposed a rule in July that would require callers to disclose the use of AI on robocalls.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
