Watch: New York officials unveil charges against Mayor Eric Adams

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) are holding a press conference Thursday on the recent criminal indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, just hours after his phone was seized by the FBI.

The indictment, which was unsealed Thursday, follows a series of investigations by federal authorities into Adams and a number of his associates. He is facing five counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national and bribery.

The charges come after the mayor had his home raided by the FBI earlier this year, and multiple deputies‘ homes were searched earlier this month.

“I always knew that If I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target — and a target I became,” Adams said in a statement after the news.

SDNY officials will outline the charges at 11:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
