Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), former President Trump’s running mate, will deliver remarks Wednesday afternoon at a campaign rally in the critical swing state of Michigan.
The event comes a day after Vance and his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, met for the first time on the debate stage. During the roughly 90-minute forum, hosted by CBS News in New York City, the two men argued about policy on issues ranging from abortion to immigration to guns.
While post-debate polling doesn’t show a clear winner, the Ohio Republican’s performance was seemingly well received. That is in contrast to his running mate’s showing in the first, and likely only, presidential debate last month against Vice President Harris.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) even complimented Vance Tuesday evening on his performance, saying he was a better debater than Trump.
Vance’s remarks in Auburn Hills, Mich., are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EDT.
