Pennsylvania incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D) and Republican challenger Dave McCormick took the debate stage Thursday evening in Harrisburg, Pa., as Democrats try to prevent Republicans from flipping the Senate red.
The contest in battleground Pennsylvania is seen as one of multiple closely watched races for the upper chamber. The forum will be hosted by NewsNation and local stations in the Keystone State.
Casey was elected to the Senate in 2007, after serving as Pennsylvania state treasurer. McCormick, a businessman, narrowly lost the 2022 GOP nomination for Senate to Dr. Mehmet Oz. The latter was later defeated by Sen. John Fetterman (D).
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s aggregate of polls shows Casey leading McCormick by 3.7 points — 47.7 percent to 44 percent.
The debate was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. EDT.
