President Biden will provide an update on the federal response to Hurricane Milton, two days after the deadly storm hit Central Florida.

Milton — which brought heavy winds and dangerous flooding to the area — hit the state as a Category 3 hurricane late Wednesday, less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene ravaged the southeastern U.S. The latest storm killed at least 14 people and left millions without power, according to officials.

Biden’s update, which Vice President Harris will attend virtually, comes as federal first responders and local officials continue to assess the damage from both hurricanes.

The president has also been in touch with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who also held a press conference Friday.

The president’s remarks are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
