In the fallout from the pandemic, school districts across the country are experiencing critical shortages of teachers. New Mexico has started filling some vacancies by calling in the National Guard.

A shortage of computer chips made acute by the pandemic has been a drag on manufacturing, especially for the auto industry. Congress has made steps toward support for U.S. chipmakers, but approval of the spending remains in question.

A recent study by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts that sea levels on U.S. coastlines will rise 10 to 12 inches by 2050, with such as like the U.S. Gulf Coast seeing even greater increases.
