First lady predicts ‘low-key’ Valentine’s Day

First lady Michelle Obama said Thursday she’s expecting a “low-key” Valentine’s Day after the president threw her a star-studded 50th birthday bash earlier this month.

{mosads}”I’ve had this big birthday celebration — my husband really celebrated me so well — he did a great job,” the first lady told Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview. “I had a great couple of weeks, so I think we’re going to low-key it for Valentine’s Day.”

The first lady joked that Obama wouldn’t be trying to figure out how to order flowers like Michael Douglas’s character in “The American President.”

“This is the thing about that movie,” the first lady said. “Once you live in the White House, you know there’s a florist in the White House. It’s like, they have really good flowers right downstairs, so why is he out there with his credit card? That would never happen!”

Still, she credited the president for never forgetting a Valentine’s Day, anniversary or birthday.

“He’s really good at that kind of stuff,” she said.

While the president hasn’t publicly discussed any of his plans for Valentine’s Day with the first lady, the plans could involve travel. On Wednesday, the White House said Obama would meet on Feb. 14 with King Abdullah of Jordan at the Sunnylands Center in Southern California.

The first lady also dished on how she spent part of her winter vacation, admitting that during the long flight to Hawaii, she binged on the White House television drama “Scandal.”

“I hadn’t watched it until this past vacation, and we went to Hawaii… so [we] had a long flight [and] I watched all the seasons,” Obama said. “I love Kerry Washington. She is amazing, so it makes the show fun.”
