WATCH LIVE: Paul announces run

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday announced that he’ll seek the Republican nomination for president.

“I am running for president to return our country to the principles of liberty and limited government,” Paul announced on his website.

{mosads}Paul will formally launch his campaign in front of about a thousand supporters at a noon rally at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky.

He’s the second Republican to officially enter the presidential field. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) launched his campaign late last month.
