The Daily Show tackled the Virginia gubernatorial race Monday night, highlighting the public’s unpopular view of both candidates.
Correspondent Al Madrigal set out to uncover why the two candidates, Ken Cuccinelli (R) and Terry McAuliffe (D), were so unfavorable to Virginia voters.
Professor Larry Sabato from the University of Virginia explained the governor’s race had become an unpopularity contest between Cuccinelli’s reputation for radical, right-wing ideals and a “sleazy” public perception of McAuliffe.
Originally seeing the two candidates as “run-of-the-mill… politicians,” Madrigal changed his mind after watching a gubernatorial race debate, commenting “this is a nightmare.”
